Kings Lodge School
EDUCATION

2003

This new wing doubled the size of the existing school, with seven new classrooms, ancillary and support spaces and a new multi-purpose hall.

The ceiling to the classrooms, hall and circulation space follows the sloping line of the roof. Clerestorey windows and rooflights allow natural light into the deep plan, and encourage natural cross-ventilation in the teaching spaces.

The exterior of the building uses clay bricks and roof tiles matching that of the original school building. An insulated render system above windowsill level uses bright blues and yellows to identify the individual parts of the building. Fun shaped “shopfronts”, with bright fruity colours, identify each classroom along the internal school street
