Clifton College Prep School Resources Centre, Bristol

This design for an extended Resource Centre and IT suite for pupils created a larger space within the existing roofspace by adding gabled dormers and a small extension. A complex structural solution enabled the creation of a new mezzanine floor with good head-height between the existing roof and the original Resources Room.
The mezzanine level of the Resources Centre is reached by a single staircase through a floor void within the new floor which connects the two spaces. Key features such as the adjacent Chapel gable wall were retained.
Our design minimised impact to the surrounding buildings and Conservation Area by keeping the new dormers within the existing roof lines. The materials used for the new dormers and new parts of the roof match the existing.
