A planning application has been submitted for a block of 20 affordable extra care apartments on a challenging site at Summer Lane, Worle. The accommodation is designed to allow elderly people to live independently within a community setting and is within a short walk of recreational, shopping and healthcare facilities.
The building has generously sized windows to give high levels of daylight – of particular value to older people – and are laid out to suit specialist extra care requirements.
Externally the building is of brick in two colours to give definition to its different parts, with a contrasting dark tiled roof broken up into a series of double and mono-pitches.
Bridges Design Associates have designed the landscape which includes trees planted to shield the site from the adjacent roads.
