Planning application submitted for ingenious new apartment block in Bedminster

O’LearyGoss Architects’ ingenious design for a new four storey apartment building on Baynton Road in Bedminster, south Bristol is the subject of a current planning application to Bristol City Council.

The building replaces the vacant single storey light industrial unit with 7x two bed and 2x one bed apartments. Our proposals respond positively to the context, with the angled brick facade to Baynton Road marking the change between the three storey buildings on Ashton Road and the approved nine storey buildings on The Old Brewery site next door.

This sustainable development uses air source heat pumps and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery to reduce energy consumption for both heating and cooling. The design also provides good levels of natural daylight to all living spaces, incorporating a courtyard / light well to the rear and making the most of the south west orientation of the front elevation. In addition, all of the two bed apartments include an outside amenity space, with patios at ground floor, balconies above and a large roof terrace on the top floor
