O’LearyGoss Architects’ designs for a small infill residential development in Portishead have been submitted for planning permission. The project retains the original 19C house, and proposes five new houses and the conversion of an outbuilding, creating a cul-de-sac of modern houses in a largely Victorian and Edwardian area near the centre of Portishead. The new buildings use simple pitched roof forms in brick and plain tile, with large windows carefully orientated to maximise sunlight whilst avoiding overlooking.
O’LearyGoss Architects designs for the restoration and conversion of Guild Heritage House in Old Market have just completed, and the building is now occupied. The project, which restored the 1913 street facade and re-opened two small internal courtyards, provides twenty apartments within the volume of the original building. The building work was undertaken by Construction Total Solutions on behalf of Hatchbury.
